Pen-and-ink drawings from Egypt, 1988

On my world travels in 1988, one of the last places I stopped was Egypt. I met up with a friend who had been living in Cairo, and with her parents we traveled south to Aswan and Karnak, as well as heading out to the Sinai Peninsula where we visited St. Catherine’s Monastery. I loved the Islamic art and architecture in Cairo as well as the ancient Egyptian art transmitted through the ancient sandstone carvings and structures we saw further south. I was lucky to visit the Middle East when I did. I hope someday to return.
