New Zealand Pen-and-ink drawings, 1987-88

When I was 24, I had the space, time and energy to travel around the world and New Zealand was the first stop on my way. I spent three months there and explored many spots in the North and South island, devoting most of my time to developing my landscape drawing skills, as well as meeting fellow travelers who stayed in the youth hostels. Artistically, I focused on capturing the landscape in light and shadow using more developed pen lines than I had previously been doing. In addition, my paper was of a uniform small size for almost all the work, about 9″X7″.
