I have always loved sketching plants; blooms, foliage, even dried forms, and this was probably a result of my mom’s interest in plant identification on backpacking trips where we would try to identify evergreens, or forays into natural settings where we would do the same for flowers and mushrooms. Recently I’ve been taking my smaller studies of flowers and blowing them up and painting them, or doing plain-air studies from life such as with the paintings of tomatoes, daffodils and gladiolas. For the mural images, I have used my own photographic source material.
